Clubs

Lanier Elementary has a variety of extracurricular activities to choose from. By participating in clubs, students learn important communication skills, leadership, and time management.

• Art Club
  • Students in 3^rd - 5^th grade attend Art Club after school once a week. They complete art projects and lessons including directed drawings, sketches, and painting with watercolor and acrylic paints. Students are exposed to art elements, principals, design, and composition.

• Bot Ball Club
• Camp Fire
• Chess Club
  • Chess Club is held once a week during lunch period. First time learners or those who are seasoned chess players are welcome to join. Names are drawn at random for the individual a student plays per week. Those with the most wins attend the district chess tournament.

• Lanier Broadcasters
  • Fifth grade students present the morning announcements every morning over the school intercom. Announcements include Pledge of Allegiance, lunch menus, "Facts of the Day", jokes, birthdays, SEL word of the week and definitions, student accomplishments, and other general announcements. Students practice and assist writing their scripts weekly.

• Newspaper Club
  • Fifth grade students meet after school once a week to create a newspaper to share with all other Lanier students. The students choose topics to write about and include current events. They write poetry, take photos, and design the layout as well. Riddles, jokes, comics, and word searches are also included in the newspaper.

• Safety Patrol
  • Students with integrity are chosen to serve as Safety Patrolers. Some students are on morning patrol and help teachers into the building, sanitize student hands, and hand out breakfast. Afternoon patrols help direct younger students to their cars and assist teachers with dismissal at various exits throughout the building.
